The Dayton Foundation is offering three additional nonprofit organizations in the Greater Dayton region the opportunity to work with a Del Mar Encore Fellow, who can tackle a project that needs special skills or experience not currently available within an organization’s existing staff. The deadline to submit a Request for Proposal, is located on The Dayton Foundation’s website at, May 22, 2023, at 4 p.m.

Del Mar Encore Fellows are highly skilled, recently retired professionals, who bring a deep and broad skillset that can be deployed to work on high-priority community and organizational needs. Since 2017, The Dayton Foundation has deployed 17 older adults into the community to work as Del Mar Encore Fellows on significant community issues. Past host organizations have included the Area Agency on Aging, PSA 2; Brunner Literacy Center; The Collaboratory; Dayton Metro Library; Learn to Earn Dayton; Ruth Frost Parker Center for Abundant Aging; NCCJ; Preschool Promise; St. Mary Development Center; and Yellow Springs Senior Center.

Thanks to the Fellows’ work, inroads have been made in local efforts, including creating age-friendly communities; addressing adult literacy; developing early childhood employment pathways; increasing low-income seniors’ access to healthcare through technology; and researching challenges to building a stable home healthcare workforce. Because the Fellows come with a lifetime of experience and skills, they bring a wealth of additional resources to the host organizations.
