The Dayton Foundation to Kick-Off 100th Anniversary With Virtual Event, November 12

On Thursday, November 12, 2020, The Dayton Foundation will launch its year-long Centennial Celebration with a Live, virtual event - Celebrating 100 Years Together from Afar! The event starts at 4:30 p.m. and is free and open to everyone through the Foundation’s Facebook page and website at www.daytonfoundation.org.

The program will be filled with lively performances from the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra’s Brass Quintet and Grammy nominated Central State University’s Chorus; heartwarming stories of Dayton Foundation fund holders and how their gifts are touching the lives of individuals and families in Greater Dayton and beyond; a spoken word performance written just for the Foundation to mark this special occasion; and an update on the impact from donors who gave to tragedy and disaster funds in 2019. Hosting the event are Dayton Foundation fund holders James Brown, anchor/reporter for WHIO-TV, and Megan Cooper, development manager for Dayton Metro Library. Joining them are Marva Cosby, chair of The Dayton Foundation Governing Board, and Michael Parks, CFRE, president of the Foundation, both of whom will share a couple of exciting announcements about The Dayton Foundation to kick-off its centennial year.

The Dayton Foundation was founded in 1921 by D. Frank Garland, John H. Patterson, Julia Shaw Patterson Carnell and Robert Patterson. From an initial gift of $250,000 from the Patterson family, to $653 million in assets as of June 30, 2020, The Dayton Foundation is upholding the dream to help individuals help others in Greater Dayton and beyond.
