Permanence
We are a local organization that has been in existence since 1921, assisting thousands of donors and awarding tens of thousands of grants to charitable organizations for worthy causes. We are here to help you focus your giving and make it more effective.
Local Association/Impact
Our staff and Governing Board are made up of knowledgeable, concerned community citizens and volunteers like yourself, living in the Greater Dayton Region. With this level of staff research, knowledge and volunteer expertise and commitment, we can quickly identify local and regional issues, guaranteeing that we target discretionary grants where they will do the most good.
We also convene agencies and coordinate resources to create positive change for our community.

Immediate Tax Deductions
Because The Dayton Foundation is a public charity, donations qualify for the maximum available deduction for charitable contributions in the year when the gift is made. We also can offer solutions to help reduce your estate-tax liability.
Investment Management
Our investment portfolios are managed for long-term growth in the market. This allows for significant grantmaking opportunities. A third-party performance evaluation firm monitors the Foundation's performance.

We provide all administrative services and handle the bothersome paperwork and IRS reports, so you don't have to.
Accountability
An independent, certified audit is performed annually, and we make a full accounting of our activities through our annual report and other public documents. Copies of the Foundation’s audited financial statements are available at your request.

24-Hour Online Account or Fund Access
Through Donor Express, a secure, password-protected online service, donors can access their personal fund or Charitable Checking AccountSM information, including their fund value or account balance, gift and grant history, as well as pending grant recommendations. Charitable Checking Account information is updated daily. Long-term endowment fund balances are updated quarterly.
