UPDATE: Commitment to Community During the COVID-19 Response

Since the first reports of COVID-19 emerged in the United States, The Dayton Foundation has been working to ensure that our operations continue with minimal disruption. Fulfilling our mission - to help you help others - is our commitment to you and the Greater Dayton community, especially in this time of critical need.

Steps We’ve Taken

As of last week, Dayton Foundation staff have been working remotely from their homes. This will continue at least until April 6, the mandatory date ordered by Governor Mike DeWine. Answering the needs of all our constituents, including issuing grants from donor funds, processing contributions and establishing new funds, will be done as quickly as possible. Please contact a member of our team for assistance. We are happy to help you and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.

Starting immediately, access to the Foundation’s postal mail will be delayed until April 6. If you are sending a gift by mail, please understand we will process it after that time. We encourage you instead to use our credit card gift page or make an electronic fund transfer (contact Steve Darnell or Tracie Boshears in our Finance Department).

For recommending grants from your advised fund, please remember that Donor Express is available 24/7.

How to Help Your Community - COVID-19 Response Fund

The Dayton Foundation and the United Way of the Greater Dayton Area, along with a coalition of philanthropic, education and government partners, announced last week the COVID-19 Response Fund for Greater Dayton. This rapid response fund will help the organizations that are doing the heavy lifting to meet the immediate, basic human needs of individuals and families disproportionately affected by COVID-19.

Applications from local nonprofits that meet the eligibility requirements have started coming in, with the the first five grants totaling $70,500 awarded today.

Nonprofits wishing to apply for a grant from the fund may do so here.

The reality of COVID-19’s impact in our community is just starting to come to light. Our neighbors need all of our compassion and support. No gift is too small to the COVID-19 Response Fund for Greater Dayton. One-hundred percent of your gift will go to vetted community-based and 501(c)(3) charitable organizations. The Dayton Foundation is paying all credit cards fees and is not charging any administration fees for this fund, donate to the COVID-19 Response Fund for Greater Dayton.

We’re Here to Help You Help Others

Indeed we are facing challenging and uncertain times. Like you, our thoughts are with those whose lives and health are most affected by this pandemic in our community and around the world. If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out to a member of our team.
