Charles L. Shor Epilepsy Scholarship
The Charles L. Shor Epilepsy Scholarship has been established to empower individuals diagnosed with epilepsy to achieve their goals through education. Applicants must:
- have physician-documented, active epilepsy with seizures occurring within the past 12 months and/or currently be taking epilepsy medication. Applicants should not be candidates for surgery. A letter from the applicants’ physician or treating healthcare provider is required with documentation of ongoing treatment for epilepsy; (Download the Physician Diagnosis Verification Form)
- be a graduating high school senior (including GED) or current college student. Scholarship may not be used for advanced education (e.g. Master’s, PhD, etc.);
- be a legal resident of the United States;
- be accepted to an accredited two-year, four-year, technical school or college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year;
- demonstrate financial need; and
- have not previously earned a bachelor’s degree, unless seeking to enroll in trade or vocational program.
Being enrolled full-time (at least 12 credits per semester) is encouraged, however, students with medical circumstances that require a reduced course load are still eligible and encouraged to apply.
Employees or family members of the Charles L. Shor Foundation, Epilepsy Wellness Advocates or the Charles L. Shor Scholarship Fund are not eligible to apply.
