
New Endowment Funds
Establishing a strong foundation for our community’s future is a vision shared by donors who have endowment funds at The Dayton Foundation. The following funds are some of the new endowments established by donors in recent months to support their special charitable causes, now and in the future.

Marcos E. Amongero Memorial Fund memorializes this longtime orthopedic surgeon by designating grants to the National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center and the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Foundation. Dr. Amongero was a dedicated family man who believed in helping others and living life to its fullest.
Eric P. Bigler Endowment Scholarship Fund helps graduates of River High School in Hannibal, Ohio, further their education by awarding scholarships. Despite an injury that left him paralyzed at the age of 15, Eric Bigler completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, has enjoyed a successful career in software testing for the Department of Defense and is a longtime community volunteer.

Carlisle Family Foundation, established by Tom and Elaine Carlisle, honors the memories of their sons, Andy and Dan Carlisle, by awarding grants to support scholarships for graduates of Northmont High School and educational enhancements for Northmont’s pre-K through sixth grade students.
Dayton Business Club Education Foundation helps further the education of physical therapy or nursing students currently enrolled at Kettering College of Medical Arts, Sinclair Community College, University of Dayton or Wright State University.
Dayton Legal Heritage Foundation serves to benefit Greater Dayton citizens by awarding grants to nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies that run programs to improve the practice of law and elevate awareness of the legal and justice systems.
Dayton Regional STEM School Fund provides annual income to this Dayton school, which distinguishes itself as a community of learners devoted to building the critical thinkers and leaders of tomorrow.

Del Mar Initiative Fund supports the Del Mar Encore Fellows Initiative. This three-year pilot program is focused on engaging highly skilled, older adults to help tackle community projects that address social issues.
Friendship Village Residents Association Fund provides annual income for this nonprofit organization, which enhances the lives of Friendship Village residents in Dayton, Ohio.
Good Shepherd Ministries Heritage Endowment Fund supports this nonprofit organization that helps individuals who wish to restore their lives with God’s help after incarceration or while recovering from addiction.
Kelchner Family Foundation Fund* advances the charitable interests of the Kelchner family. Established by Lisa and Todd Kelchner, the fund serves to support nonprofit organizations that provide opportunities for others to improve their lives through exchange charity and economic development.

Lapedes-Schwartz Family Scholarship Fund, established by Richard Lapedes and Maureen Lynch, Stephen and Melissa Schwartz, and Andrew and Pamela Schwartz, assists children of LION Group, Inc., employees in furthering their education at an accredited two- or four-year college or university. Founded in 1898 by William Lapedes, LION remains a family-owned company and is managed by his great-grandsons, Andrew and Stephen Schwartz.
Public Service Monument Fund supports efforts in the City of Dayton to construct a monument in Cooper Park dedicated to public service and public servants.
The Riding Centre Association Fund supports the charitable and educational programs of this Yellow Springs, Ohio, nonprofit organization, which provides therapeutic riding lessons for children and adults with physical, mental or emotional challenges.
Routsong Charitable Fund designates grants to support seven nonprofit organizations, including the Dayton Masonic Foundation and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Dayton. The fund was established by Thomas H. Routsong, former owner of Routsong Funeral Homes.
