African-American Community Foundation - Major John F. Harris, Jr., Memorial Scholarship

The Major John F. Harris, Jr., Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to financially assist JROTC graduates within Dayton Public Schools to further their education at an accredited college, community college, university, vocational school or trade program. The fund honors the memory of Major John Harris, Jr., who was an instructor at Grace A. Greene Military Academy and had a strong desire to help students become independent and self-supporting.

Applicants must:

  • be a graduating senior in JROTC from one of the following schools: Belmont, Beavercreek, Fairborn, Meadowdale, Northmont, Stebbins, Trotwood-Madison, Wayne or Xenia,
  • be able to demonstrate leadership skills through exemplary participation in school and community activities, and
  • be accepted to an accredited college, community college, university, vocational school, technical school or trade program.
