The Lanasa Family Scholarship

Pete Lanasa had two important priorities in his life. One was to receive a good education, and another was to help children and adults with disabilities experience a better life. When Pete and his wife Flo's son, Tom, was born with cerebral palsy, they knew the difficulties in life he would experience. When Tom passed away in 2017, they created a memorial scholarship to educate future teachers entering the special education field, a cause near and dear to their hearts. During his life, Tom benefited from the many opportunities his family created for him and was fortunate to have teachers who knew his needs and how to fulfill them. As a mother of a special needs child, Flo Lanasa knew it took a village to make a happy, meaningful life for Tom. The fund memorializes Tom's life, as well as remembers her husband, Pete, and his dedication to advocating for individuals with disabilities.
