Willie and Eloise Root Memorial Scholarship

The Willie and Eloise Root Memorial Scholarship was established in 2007 by Louise Van Vliet for the exclusive purpose of assisting individuals to further their studies at an accredited college, community college, university, vocational school or trade program. Miss Van Vliet wished to honor the memory of these migrant workers whom she met and became friends with one summer while she was working at an apple orchard. Eligible candidates for this scholarship are migrant workers, children of migrant workers, victims of human trafficking or individuals who have worked to improve the lives of migrant workers or victims of human trafficking.

Applicants must:

  • be a migrant worker, a child of migrant workers, or a victim of human trafficking or
  • have worked to improve the lives of migrant workers or victims of human trafficking.
