Vandalia-Butler Foundation - Coach Z Scholarship

The Coach Z Scholarship Fund was established to honor Ray Zawadzki, Sr.’s, contributions and legacy at Vandalia-Butler City Schools from 1963 to 2003. Having taught physical education and health his entire career, Coach Zawadzki interacted with virtually every high school student during his tenure. He was the boys’ varsity coach for 36 years and, after starting the golf program in 1963, was the boys’ golf coach for 37 years. Every member of the basketball or golf team knew that Z promoted hard work, preparation and teamwork. It is in that spirit that this scholarship will provide tuition assistance for one graduating senior of Butler High School.

Applicants must:

• be a graduating senior from Butler High School,
• have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and
• be acepted to a two- or four-year technical school, college or university.

Preference will be given to students who plan to major in education or have participated in varsity boys' baketball or boys' golf. Applicants who have been on either team should demonstrate evidence of diligence, teamwork and sportsmanship.
