Valley View Schools - Donald "Rick" Urschel and Alice Kesling Urschel Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship, established in 2025, is given in memory of Donald “Rick” Urschel, a life-long German Township farmer, and his supportive wife, Alice Kesling Urschel, who grew up on her family’s farm in Jackson Township. Rick also used his self-taught civil engineering skills to construct and remodel farm buildings. Rick graduated from Germantown High School in 1938, and Alice graduated from Farmersville High School in 1935. While in high school, he was president of his local FFA chapter and earned The FFA State Farmer Award. Rick was a WWII Army veteran and served as a German Township trustee for eight years. Alice served in their church and played the organ there for many years. All four of their children and five of their grandchildren graduated from Germantown or Valley View High Schools. The Urschels’ value of education, strong work ethic and community service led Mark and Jane (Urschel) Berner to offer this scholarship.
