Vandalia Butler Foundation - Sally K. Owens Memorial Scholarship

The Sally K. Owens Memorial Scholarship was established in 2025 to honor Sally’s life as a gentle, kind and tender soul. A lifelong resident of Vandalia, a 1976 graduate of Butler High School and a faithful and devoted employee of the Vandalia-Butler City School District for 29 years, Sally always treated others with empathy and respect without regard to their stature, status or station in life.

Applicants must:

• be a graduating senior from Butler High School,
• be accepted to an accredited two-year or four-year college or university,
• be recognized by the Butler High School administrative and counseling staff as an individual who treats others with gentleness, kindness and tenderness, and
• have a demonstrated financial need.
