Our Endowed Funds

Since 1921, The Dayton Foundation has been helping donors and organizations help others and our community through endowed funds that preserve our donors’ charitable purposes, today and after their lifetimes.

James and Phoebe Neef Fund – 1999 was established with an insurance policy to provide future support for Miami University and Sinclair Community College.

The National Aviation Hall of Fame Endowment Fund – 2004 will generate unrestricted income to help perpetuate this organization's mission to honor America's air and space pioneers.

National Trail Education Foundation Fund – 2017 cultivates support for the National Trail Local School District and awards grants to enhance its educational, enrichment and scholarship programs.

National Veterans Affairs History Center Foundation – 2017 helps make possible the construction and operation of the Veterans Affairs History, Research and National Heritage Center, to be located on the Dayton V. A. Medical Center Campus, by generating income for the organization.

The Naum Family Foundation – 2005 furthers the work of charitable organizations, as advised by the donor, Ann M. Shaw-Kremer. She established the fund in memory of her parents, Col. and Mrs. Albert C. Naum, and her two brothers, Maj. Michael C. and Andrew C. Naum.

The NCR Wave Cabin Fund – 2005 was established by Carillon Historical Park to generate unrestricted revenue to help preserve the NCR Wave Cabin. The cabin housed young Navy WAVES, who manufactured NCR Bombes, top-secret machines built to crack German and Japanese codes during World War II.

Carol and Joseph Nealon Fund – 2015 provides annual income to the Dayton Right to Life Foundation for The Stork‘s Nest Baby Pantry, where young mothers and other clients in need receive emergency supplies necessary to care for their infants.

Neeld Fund – 1997 was created by Thomas R. Neeld and his late wife, Eleanor. The family operates the Neeld Funeral Home in Xenia. Their fund reflects their interest in church and community.

Neff Family Fund – 1986 carries on the charitable legacy of the late Robert S. Neff, chairman of Neff Packaging Solutions and former chair of the Foundation's Governing Board. Mr. Neff’s children, Jane, John and Robert D., serve as advisors for the fund, which brought a third generation of family members into partnership with the Foundation.

Neumeister Family Charitable Fund – 2011 awards grants to support nonprofit organizations as chosen by Jean and Bob Neumeister and their three children.

Jean E. Nicholas Fund – 2009 supports nonprofits that provide reading services to disadvantaged children and other services to visually impaired individuals. Jean Nicholas was a former legal secretary and court reporter.

Helen Heim Nichols Fund – 1997 in memory of Helen Heim Nichols, promotes the mission of The Dayton Foundation by making funds available to benefit the Miami Valley community.

Miguel Nieto Family Endowment Fund – 1992 supports charitable purposes of the Nieto family, including assisting the Wright State University School of Medicine's cooperative agreement with Benito Juarez University Medical School in Oaxaca, Mexico, and the medical program at this Mexican university.

Nischwitz Family Fund reflects the leadership of the Nischwitz family in the community. Ronald Nischwitz also has been involved with charities, such as Ohio Business Week for young people.

Noble Circle Project Term Operations Fund – 2009 helps women who have been diagnosed with cancer by providing funds to the Noble Circle Project, a wellness group that focuses on self-healing techniques as a means of thriving beyond the disease.

Leon Norman and Mildred Miriam Nizny Memorial Fund – 1997 supports radio programming for sight- and hearing-impaired persons, music programming for young people and programs for the Jewish community. This fund was established by Dr. Melvin Nizny, Martin Nizny and David Niles in memory of their mother, Mildred M. Nizny.

Isabel and Hugh Noonan Fund – 1996 disburses annual unrestricted operating revenue to Covenant House in New York City for the care and sheltering of runaway children. The fund also serves as a memorial to Isabel Florence Sachs Noonan and Hubert Noonan.

NORCO Advanced Learning Award Fund – 2012 grants scholarships to help graduating Fairborn High School seniors further their education. Candidates must be accepted into an accredited two-year college or vocational program and meet academic requirements to be considered.

Northmont Alumni Association-Chunduri Family Healthcare Scholarship – 2015 awards scholarships to graduating Northmont High School seniors who plan to attain a healthcare degree. Dr. Jaideep Chunduri, a Northmont alumnus whose father and siblings also practice medicine, benefitted from multiple scholarships. He created the fund to give something back to the community that gave him and his family their start.

Northmont Education Foundation Fund – 1985 provides funding to students, faculty and employees of the Northmont City Schools for the creation of, or participation in, enrichment programs not available through other means.

Northmont Thunderback Club Turf Replacement Fund – 2014 assists in replacing the artificial turf at Northmont High School’s football stadium.

Northridge Polar Bear Foundation Fund – 2007 enhances the education of students of Northridge Local Schools. The fund, named after the school's mascot, supports programs and facilities for the school district, as well as scholarships for the students.

Norwegian Fjord Horse Foundation Pure Endowment Funds – 2011 support the education, research, history and promotion of Norwegian Fjord Horses.

While the size and purpose of each fund is different, our donors share the same goal – to make a difference.
