Since 1921, The Dayton Foundation has been helping donors and organizations help others and our community through endowed funds that preserve our donors’ charitable purposes, today and after their lifetimes.

The Charles M. Uhl, Jr., and Teresa D. Uhl Family Foundation – 2003 serves as a memorial to the donors and carries out their charitable wishes in perpetuity. Charles M. Uhl, Jr., a longtime insurance agent, was a resident of Greenfield, Ohio for nearly 79 years. He was married to his beloved wife Teresa for 36 years until her death in 1984.

Larry L. Unger Fund – 1997 honors the memory of the donor by continuing his vision of endowment to benefit the Pyrmont United Methodist Church.

The Unitary Accounting Services Scholarship in Honor of Thomas Neal – 2019 provides aid to an African-American student who is seeking a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management, management information systems or marketing. 

United Grinding Gearing Up for the Future Scholarship – 2021 awards scholarships for students in the Miami Valley who wish to continue their studies at any accredited Miami Valley-based trade or vocational program, or two- or four-year degree program focused on manufacturing and/or engineering. 

United Methodist Women of Memorial United Methodist Church – 2022 generates annual income for the mission work of the United Methodist Women in West Carrollton, Ohio. 

United States Air and Trade Show Education Fund – 2001 will help raise awareness of Dayton's role in the first manned and controlled flight by the Wright Brothers in 1903. The fund's income also will be used to educate young people, especially disadvantaged youth, about aviation.

United Theological Seminary – Audrie E. and Calvin H. Reber, Jr., International Student Scholarship Fund – 2012 provides financial assistance for international students, particularly those who wish to focus on a career in pastoral ministry at United Theological Seminary.

The United Theological Seminary Permanent Endowment Fund – 2005 provides a source of permanent, annual operating revenue for the United Theological Seminary.

United Way of Greater Dayton Area Campaign Fund – 1991 generates annual contributions to the United Way campaign, which supports voluntary health and social service agencies in the Greater Dayton area.

United Way of the Greater Dayton Area Endowment Fund – 1987 assists the general charitable work of United Way.

United Way of the Greater Dayton Area Memorial Fund – 1995 joins several funds under one umbrella, to support the community initiatives program of this social service agency. Those funds are the United Way of the Greater Dayton Area Endowment Fund and Campaign Endowment Fund, as well as the Memorial Fund, created in memory of Harry A. Shaw III.

United Way of Greater Dayton Area Rike Family Endowment Fund – 1990 originates from a Rike Family Foundation grant to United Way, which supports and improves health and social service agencies in Greater Dayton.

UTS-Pohly Center Fund – provides annual financial support to the United Theological Seminary's Pohly Center for Supervision and Leadership Formation.

While the size and purpose of each fund is different, our donors share the same goal – to make a difference.
